Katrina performs in The Fire in Her Eyes with VAMP on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM in KMFA 89.5’s Draylen Mason Studio.

The music highlights the hidden inner lives of women as we contend with patriarchal society’s impact on our relationships, careers, personal ambitions and basic connections with men. The centerpiece of the program is Invisible Women, a work of allyship–original songs based on 6+ hours of interviews with VAMP members–that we commissioned from composer Russell Podgorsek. Each VAMP member will sing cabaret-style solos with tunes from The Waitress, Dear Evan Hansen, Joni Mitchell, Willie Nelson, and The Chicks, accompanied by Austin pianist Carla McElhaney.

Before and after the show, we are inviting women-owned businesses in the Austin area to set up tables in the lobby. We will also invite nonprofits that support women to set up tables. Our goal is to make this concert an opportunity for women in business and women’s issues to be seen and supported by our audience.
